Beginning of my Trip: Texas

As of June 19th, I am unemployed (a lady of leisure). Although I really enjoyed my previous job (at an engineering & environmental consulting company) and the people I worked with, I am pretty thrilled to be unemployed (I'm pushing my financial worries to the back of my mind). On June 20th, the movers came (thanks, mom!) to take my stuff away from my fabulous Brooklyn apartment with my fabulous roomies (Karen & Fatima), while I hung out with some great friends and drank cheap (I mean inexpensive) champagne. On June 21st (Happy Father's Day, Pa!), on minimum sleep (i.e. 1.5 hours), I took my cat (Figaro a.k.a. Figgy), my large backpack, my small backpack with my laptop and external hard drive, my big purse (it was new-a present from the terrific ladies named Amanda and Karen), and my large rolling red suitcase to the airport. After a very loooooong day (longest day of the year literally and figuratively), Figgy and I made it to Texas. My mom and sis (Jessica a.k.a. Jessipoo) picked me up, and I began my week in Texas. During the week so far, I've spent some quality time with my dad, Cindy, Sarah, and Rachael and have been hanging out with my sis (who came from Houston to spend a couple of days with Mom and I in Tyler) and my mom. Can I just say that Boy, it's hot (about 20-30 degrees hotter than I'm used to in NY)! I'm really enjoying spending the afternoons sitting in the kiddie pool in my mom's backyard.

*I would like to add that although I'm enjoying my time with my family and Tejas, I already miss my fantastic friends I left behind and NYC. Love you guys!! See you soon! You're the greatest!

**Also, have I mentioned that it's so, so, so hot here!

***I'm writing this posting as I'm watching the news about Michael Jackson & Farrah Fawcett (R.I.P.). Sad

About Me

I graduated from undergraduate architecture school in Texas (UTA) in 2004. A couple of weeks after graduating, I moved to NYC and began working. Now in 2009 after five wonderful, fulfilling, interesting years of living in one of the greatest cities in the world and debating with myself about whether or not I am ready to be a student again, I am heading back to school to get my masters in Interior Architecture (MIA, yo!) from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Before moving to Providence, RI (where RISD is located) in the fall, I will be living in Coppenhagen, Denmark for approx. seven weeks studying Scandinavian design and studio.
